It's not uncommon to see snowboarders pulling handplants at the top of the halfpipe but you don't see skiers doing handplants nearly as often.

Maybe even a 360 but it's hard to tell from the still shot. Nice jump as this freestyle skiier hangs in mid-air with his skis crossed in an X.

Great pic of skiier Joe Murrell totally inverted with skis crossed in mid air after taking a jump in the half pipe somewhere in the French Alps. Maybe one day I'll learn the names of the tricks...

Trekking, Skiing, swimming... in Himalaya, Annapurnas, Nepal., originally uploaded by Eric Lon.
With summer winding down it's time to start thinking about hitting the slopes but most of will wait until there's some snow. Not Eric Lon however - he's determined to be the first to hit the slopes - even if it means skiing down bare rocks deep in the Himalayan mountains of Nepal. Who knew skiiers has such a crazy edge to them?!

A cool ski jump picture that was captured just right with the sun blazing in the background. I'm going to have to read up and figure out what some of these tricks are called. I never got past back scratchers and the occasional daffy. At least that's what we called them when I was younger.

Snowboard rider jeroen smallegange pulls a Blunt to Fakie. I've got my fingers crossed that I'm getting the terminology right. I'm a skiier myself but I love snowboard photography just as much as ski photography. Hopefully you one plankers will forgive my ignorance if I make some mistakes. Or even better, post a comment to correct me if I get myself in trouble. Maybe I'll even learn something!
